Working in Brazil, with courses held over weekends, we were often able to dash off to somewhere interesting for a couple of days.
Among these adventures we did Salvador de Baiha, the old capital city, regarded at the time as being one of the most dangerous places for tourists but incredibly interesting, the Pantanal wetlands with its abundance of wildlife, and Iguacu, the largest waterfall complex in the world. To see Iguacu during the wet seasons was a real jaw-dropper. Salvador and the Pantanal we’ll look at later but here are a couple of the scenes from Iguacu.
The falls are at a junction with Argentina with easy access to both sides. The amount of water on the move is remarkable. The colour of the water shows just how much soil is carried away. The whole walking area to the falls is wonderfully interesting, with a variety of colourful butterflies and local fauna lining the walkway.
